OUR MISSION... is to bring our community together and build a unique playground where children of every ability can play together.
MAKING THE UNIMAGINABLE POSSIBLE... for some children, delighting in the joys of a conventional playground is unimaginable. When a child uses a wheelchair or has difficulty in walking, climbing a vertical ladder to experience thrill of a slide or traversing gravel on the way to conquering the monkey bars, makes these seemingly simple childhood freedoms unreachable. Imagination Station playground removes these obstacles.
INNOVATIVE FEATURES... rubberized surfacing, recycled plastic composite ramping, therapeutic swings & swinging deck, multi-sensory activity structures, musical & educational components, one entrance/exit safety, and more!
LOCATED... in beautiful Roosevelt Park in Oconomowoc, WI
Key Project Phases
PHASE 1: DESIGN THE PLAYGROUND!
Complete! Design Day was on May 8th, 2008. Close to 3000 local children collaborated with Leathers & Associates designer to create an imaginative and fully-inclusive playground unique to our community. See the Design!PHASE 2: ORGANIZATION PHASE
Fundraising, volunteer recruitment and networking are key during this phase! Learn more about volunteering or how you can support us!PHASE 3: CONSTRUCTION 'THE BUILD'
The playground will be built by the community, for the community in an old-fashioned barn-raising! More than 200 volunteers per day of all ages and skills are needed to come together with Leathers & Associates construction consultants and volunteer community construction captains, to transform the land into a magnificent playground. Food and childcare committees are vital during this phase as well.
